The Mattress King was established in Durban 20 Years ago. The first store was opened in Stanger in 1991, and within 1 year began the expansion trail, opening in Durban, Empangeni and various other strategically placed stores in and around Durban. Distribution of popular brands The Mattress King’s main line of business is the retailing of beds. We currently have the Agency to distribute the following brands:
- Cloud Nine
- Lylax
- Rest Assured
- Sealy
- Serta
- Sweet dreams
We also stock an extensive range of designer furniture as well as household oak furniture.We travel overseas on an annual basis to furniture trade shows, where we source the latest international furniture trends from around the world. Imported designer furniture We import furniture from countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and china, were we currently have in the region of 50 suppliers.
As a retail based business, The Mattress King relies heavily on advertising. Various mediums of advertising are currently being used such as newspapers (Daily News, Natal Mercury, Sunday Tribune, the Witness, Sunday Times, the Star, Post etc) The medium of radio is also regularly used (East Coast, P4 and Radio Lotus) as well as local magazines such as Metro Beat, and various local booklets. Pamphlet distribution at selected major intersections is also carried out.
